The classic cinder cone, barren, symmetrical, and composed of loose cinders spewed forth from a volcanic vent.

The trail becomes progressively more cindery as you approach the cone.  The hike up the cone is very steep, in loose cinders.  The view from the top is outstanding.

Can be hot on a summer's day; so try it in early morning or at sunset.
