One of the best known hydrothermal area in the United States outside of Yellowstone.

The trail is easy, but the elevation may leave you short of breath.

The mountain scenery is excellent, and there are fine old Mountain Hemlocks along the way.

Bumpass Hell stinks, and bubbles, and steams, and is very cool.  Probably not a good place to be if the Lassen volcano re-activates, but until then it makes for an excellent hike.
