This loop hike passes through intimate forest, and past numerous small lakes.  There are a couple hills with switchbacks--just enough to keep it interesting--but overall just gentle rolling terrain.

It makes for a excellent medium length foray in to the Caribou Wilderness, suitable for beginning and experienced hikers alike.

There is a nice campsite at Black Lake. Also a little ways off the main loop trail are excellent campsites at Turnaround and Emerald Lakes.
